Thanks. These are Brian McLaren’s words from Life After Doom. Btw I just edited a conscient podcast episode (second last of this 6th season) with Ottawa based Community engaged artist Claudia Salguero who noted that life is ‘community, beauty and nature’ which goes well with living ‘beautifully, bravely and kindly’.
Thank you Leslie for your work on art and climate, which we talked about in https://conscient-podcast.simplecast.com/episodes/e203-leslie-reid-climate-as-art. The arts remain important in my life but they are also integrating with everything else, less separate and less special but present nonetheless, like a way into life but not life itself. I'm getting more feedback than usual about this 'a sense of community' posting. Maybe it is resonating that we are at a point where we need to balance the courage required to go on with the serenity to accept what we cannot change while deepening spiritual practices towards emptiness (which is really fullness or suchness). I'm publishing a lot of new conscient podcast episodes these days from a great group of artists and cultural workers then taking a long break to reflect on what further contributions in this media space might be useful : is it more 15 minute stories about the impact of art or more roundtables where people listen to each others deepest fear and joys? Ce n'est pas clair. thx c
Love this: "We will live as beautifully, bravely, and kindly as we can, as long as we can, no matter how ugly, scary, and mean the world becomes"
Thank you, Claude, for this very thoughtful and helpful posting, especially in your noting the presence and role of the arts.
Thank you for caring & sharing Claude. That there is a point in going on is the point.
